“The Late Late Show” host James Corden has been tapped to host the annual Television Critics Association awards show, which will be held this year on August 8.
“Between his fan-favorite role as the Baker in ‘Into the Woods’ and his tremendous job as host of ‘The Late Late Show,’ James Corden has quickly established himself as a rising star in the entertainment industry,” said TCA president Scott Pierce, television critic at the Salt Lake Tribune. “Corden’s relatable sense of humor and charming personality make him the perfect person to set the tone for the evening, as we announce our picks for the top programs of the year.”
Previous hosts of the awards include Terry Crews, Bryan Cranston, Ellen DeGeneres, Conan O’Brien and Bob Newhart.
Since taking over as host of “The Late Late Show” on March 23, Corden has generated dozens of viral videos and earned a Critics Choice Award nomination for best talk show.
The winners of the 31st annual TCA awards will be revealed at the August gala at the Beverly Hilton.
