Tyra Banks is leaving her own talk show “FABLife,” just two months after the daytime talker premiered, Variety has confirmed.

The host is departing the show to focus on her new cosmetics line. In a joint statement released to Variety, Banks and Disney/ABC say, “Tyra Banks has made the decision to scale back her role on the nationally syndicated lifestyle show ‘FABLife.'”

Banks will be on the show two to three times per week through the end of 2015, and will occasionally appear through the end of the season. She will also continue her exec producer duties for the remainder of the year.

“This is a very difficult decision, but necessary,” Banks’ statement reads. “I will be devoting more time to my new, growing cosmetics company, TYRA Beauty, which is expanding faster than anticipated, as well as overseeing my company’s other entertainment ventures. I will however continue to support the growth and success of ‘FABLife’ and greatly admire my fellow co-hosts and the talented production team behind the show.”

In addition to Banks, the other lifestyle experts include model Chrissy Teigen, who serves as the show’s foodie; fashion editor Joe Zee; interior designer Lauren Makk; and YouTube star Leah Ashley, who specializes in DIY expertise. Insiders say there are no plans to replace Banks, but as Teigen has served as the lead “lifestylist” in Banks’ absence, it seems likely she will take on more of a moderator role.

Per Banks’ statement, there are no immediate plans to cancel the show with her departure, first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, though the syndie has ranked as the lowest-rated of the 15 daytime syndicated talk shows this fall, averaging just 934,000 viewers, according to Nielsen. “FABLife” also received mixed reviews from critics.

Before “FABLife” premiered, Banks, who hosted six seasons of “The Tyra Banks Show” from 2005 and 2010, told Variety, “I’m interested in things that are not the same. I’m also interested in television where I’m not by myself. It is hard by yourself, it is lonely by yourself, it is tiring by yourself,” she said, in reference to her four fellow panelists. “I was not interested in coming back to daytime and doing like, ‘Tyra Show’ part two,” she continued. “We’re going to really be working it and doing it different. If you’ve seen it in daytime before, it won’t be on our show.”

As Banks departs the show, she still maintains her relationship with Disney/ABC, as she is developing a sequel to Disney Channel’s Original Movie “Life Size” for the cabler. She also just wrapped a guest-starring role for an upcoming episode of ABC’s “Black-ish.”

In other Banks news, the longtime “America’s Next Top Model” host and producer recently announced that the longtime CW show will end after the current 22nd season.

It’s a shame because I really liked her show. I still watch AMTM too, even though the earlier seasons were much better. Go Tyra. I love everything she does.

She was back on today. Why?

  3. Brenda C Jennings-Burrell says:

I love the show and the group of fabulous co-host that have been brought together is amazing. At the age of 56, I can relate to the show on so many levels and I would hate to see it end. With all the talk show out there, this is my favorite.

  4. Rosetta Evans says:

This is my favorite show on TV. I miss Tyra. I hope the show goes on . I DVR it everyday and for the first time feel that I am on the cutting edge of everything. Please repair the breech and get it together people. Love JOE ZEE!

  5. Tyrone Banks says:

She has some manger anagement problems like Kaitlyn Jenner… plus + gender identity issues! Too bad she never got the ticket to Chocolate City to see Tyson Beckford! Shebanks is stuck doing stupid childish shows that Maury would approve of!

  6. Marisol says:

    Bring back Queen Latifah

  7. April says:

I love this show because I am a huge Chrissy Tiegen fan. I watch it solely because of her. I like what she brings to the show and of course her contribution in food. I also like the DIY I see, and the fashion. I like what Tyra has done in the entertainment and fashion business and I will definitely still be a viewer of the show.

  8. Pat Stansel says:

I love the show —–best thing they have had in that time slot in a long time —–love Tyra, but I think it works well without her—-also would like to see more of Tori Spelling !!!

  9. Lillian says:

Just wanted to tell Tyra that I was just telling myself : finally a decent show to watch in the morning. I really want the show to stay!!!

  10. Dunstan says:

    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  11. James says:

Banks is so lame. If it were a hit, she wouldn’t be leaving. She’s also mad that they won’t let her push her stupid cosmetics line more. She was always pushing that drek on America’s Next Top Model.

  12. charcramer says:

Because nobody is watching this show. ABC needs to get out of the talk show business. Bring back All My Children and One Life to Live!
