Rich Ross and Nancy Daniels will take on broader programming responsibilities as part of a reshuffle at U.S. TV networks owned by Discovery Communications in the wake of a promotion that moved Marjorie Kaplan to duties overseas.
Kaplan had previously overseen TLC, Animal Planet and Velocity. She is slated to take on a new role in London supervising content for Discovery’s overseas media holdings.
As a result, Rich Ross, who had been overseeing Discovery Channel, will now have oversight of Discovery, Animal Planet and Science channel, the company announced Thursday. He was also named a group president. Rick Holzman, general manager of Animal Planet, and Rita Mullin, general manager of Science channel, will report to Ross.
Nancy Daniels, executive vice president and general manager of TLC, will take on oversight of Discovery Life Channel. Howard Lee will become that network’s general manager, reporting to Daniels.
Discovery Life had previously been under the aegis of Henry Schleiff, a group president who leads Investigation Discovery, American Heroes Channel and Destination America. Jane Latman, currently general manager of Discovery Life Channel, will become general manager of AHC, while keeping her duties as senior VP of development for Investigation Discovery.
