The bar is high for “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” CW’s latest offering from the DC Comics universe. Warner Bros. TV gave fans a sneak peek at the midseason series as part of the studio’s presentation Sunday at New York Comic Con.

The success of “The Flash” and “Arrow” has helped turn around the CW’s fortunes during the past two years. “Legends” is part of the “Flash”/”Arrow” realm. It follows  a group of DC heroes and villains who band together to stop an evil that plans to not only take down the planet but all of time itself.

“Legends” cast members including Brandon Routh, Arthur Darvill, Ciara Renee and executive producer-showrunner Phil Klemmer talked up the scope of the series.

“It’s a highly serialized (show) that will be broken down into chapters where we go back into a specific time and place,” exec producer/showrunner Phil Klemmer said. “We will see the ’70s, the Cold War, fascism, terrorism…It’s fully insane.”

Klemmer said the caliber of the cast made it easier for him to write the pilot episode. “I knew these guys. It just made the writing so much more rich,” he said.

“Legends” hails from Bonanza Productions, Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. TV with Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and Sarah Schechter exec producing.

Before the “Legends” panel, WBTV showed a sizzle reel for the new season of “Arrow” and footage from the new season of “Flash,” followed by a sneak peek of “Legends.”
