Stephen Colbert has introduced Jon Batiste as the new “Late Show” band leader on CBS. The talk show host made the announcement on Thursday.

“His music makes the audience feel so good, we may have to install a ‘Do Not Make Love’ sign,” said Colbert.

“I’m thrilled! This is a match made in heaven. Get ready for a love riot in late night,” said the musician.

Batiste, who hails from New Orleans, most recently appeared on the second and third seasons of HBO’s “Treme.”

“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” premieres on Sept. 8.

Ceasar, I think he may be able to bring some flavor to the show. Lets just wait and see….

  2. Angeleno says:

Outstanding! The music in Treme was awesome! I’m not much of a late night talk show person, but if Jon Batiste is going to be on, I think I’ll tune in and have a listen to see what kind of music he’s going to do.

  3. ravengirl57 says:

They sound good, Colbert is great and Letterman retired on his own volition. Everything else is irrelevant.

  4. dean says:

Looks like a nice enough guy. Colbert belongs in the 3 am slot. Letterman needs to get his a*s back.

  5. Mike says:

That’s the new thing huh? – You can’t have a White band these days. Colbert should have chosen Count Basie, a dead black bandleader to match Colbert’s dead sense of humor and black heart.

    • Rodney Howard says:

Yes, the history of late night television has been SO bereft of white bands and white musicians. Can we PLEASE finally get a white band on late night television????

  6. caitlyn says:

So we can’t even have aa female band leader? #waronwomen
