An earlier premiere date for new Jane Lynch comedy “Angel From Hell,” the debut of “Criminal Minds” spinoff “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” and the returns of “Undercover Boss” and “Mike & Molly” are among the highlights of the CBS midseason schedule, announced Monday by the network.

“Undercover Boss” is coming off the bench for a December premiere for the second straight year, airing three special Sunday episodes (Dec. 20, 27, and Jan. 3 at 8 p.m.) before sliding into its regular Friday 8 p.m. timeslot on Jan. 8. On Fridays, it will be serving as a bridge between seasons of “The Amazing Race,” which kicks off its 28th edition on Feb. 12.

The network is making some moves in comedy, starting Wednesday, Jan. 6 when “2 Broke Girls” and “Mike & Molly” take over the 8 o’clock hour for six weeks while “Survivor” (back Feb. 17) is on hiatus. This will be the first action of the season for “Mike & Molly,” which is starting its sixth season, while “2 Broke Girls” moves over from its current Thursday 9:30 p.m. slot.

“Angel From Hell,” previously tapped to premiere in November and then pushed to February, will now bow on Thursday, Jan. 7 at 9:30 p.m., following “Mom.” The earlier start date will allow the network to promote the comedy during the previous night’s “People Choice Awards” on CBS, which Lynch hosts. And it also means “Angel” will be debuting during the winter hiatus of ABC’s timeslot-leading “Scandal.”

“The Odd Couple” kicks off its second season on Thursday, April 7 at 8:30 p.m., taking the timeslot of “Life in Pieces,” which will have concluded its first season.

New drama “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders,” starring Gary Sinise, bows Wednesday, March 2 at 10 p.m., airing behind the original. Current timeslot occupant “Code Black,” which recently had its first season extended to 18 episodes, will conclude on Feb. 24.

CBS still has plenty of programming available to fill holes during the second half of the season. “Mike & Molly” and “2 Broke Girls” both having additional episodes that could air in one of the Thursday slots or perhaps Monday at 8 when “Super Girl” finishes its season. The Eye earlier on Monday announced that it has ordered seven additional episodes of the superhero drama, bringing its first-season episode total to 20.

Also unscheduled are veteran drama “Person of Interest” and new hourlong “Rush Hour.”

  1. Dolores Morris says:

I don’t like that you have taken off the regular Criminal Minds and put Criminal Minds Beyond The Border it’s a little bit more violent and bloody then I would like to see I like the regular Criminal Minds it is much better. Gary Sinise is a good actor I do not like the rest of them. I will not continue to watch the new Criminal Minds Beyond The Border I do not like it please bring back the regular Criminal Minds.

  2. Burton says:

Apparently CBS hate Person of Interest and don’t care about creators, cast, crew and fans of this show.

CBS unfair treatment of people keeps proving how awful are those who run this network. They’re also mighty dumb because it would be easier to give the show you hate so much an early premiere date in order to say good bye to it faster.

    • Poofpoof says:

Let’s hope all the new shows on cbs will be a complete and total flop. Except for Supergirl, I’m starting to warming up to her.
a Christmas wish/prediction. cbs will destroy themselves with their brilliant new strategy and by year 2020 all that’s left from them will be a t-shirt selling website.

      • Rudolph TRNR says:

Be careful what you wish for. Also, the CBS t-shirts would be god awful just like most of their programming.

  3. gambit says:

CBS keep proving that their main interest is only money and people aren’t important for them at all.. There are quite a few millions of fans who can’t wait for Person of Interest to come back on their screens and CBS prefer to pretend that those people don’t exist.

    • Sparkle T. says:

RE: the issue with Person Of Interest’s air date
isn’t it amusing how the network which mostly broadcasts shows about heroes who helps people in reality don’t give a damn about its own audience? CBS. What a bunch of retarded greedy f**ktards.

      • Donatella says:

CBS need to be renamed as HAN –
Homophobic Assholes Network. We work against people and logic.

      • Jah says:

the answer is simple: people who run cbs are homophobes and they can’t stand the very idea of same sex couple. the new season of poi is going to have a main F/F love storyline and this is the only reason cbs wants to a) get rid of the show b) keep pushing back its air date.

i’m deeply disgusted by cbs and its policy.

  4. gambit says:

Ugh when is person of interest coming back? Or when does Amy Acker return to Suits or Agents of Shield or elsewhere? I’m having serious Root withdrawals please help.

  5. 85wzen says:

Angel from HELL… well I guess it would be a comedy. Nothing could be funnier than a certain ‘religion’

  6. JS says:

I’m kind of surprised with how CBS is treating 2 Broke Girls this year…especially after its gigantic syndication deal just started.
