Uniglobe Entertainment will launch The Thrive Channel, devoted to cancer survivors, on June 7 to coincide with National Cancer Survivors Day, Variety has learned exclusively.

One of the new shows, “Destination Survival,” tackles common questions that arise after a cancer diagnosis. The series features celebrity cancer survivors such as Olivia Newton-John, Jaclyn Smith, Melissa Etheridge, Diahann Carroll, and Lisa Ray. Also featured are brothers Billy Baldwin and Danny Baldwin, whose mother Priya Dutt is a survivor; daughter of the late Bollywood star Nargis Dutt; oncologist Dr. Dennis Slamon; and Eastern medicine practitioner Dr. Deepak Chopra.

The streaming channel is a follow-up to Uniglobe’s campaign against cancer that started with its “1 a Minute” cancer documentary, currently out through Hulu and Warner Bros.

The Thrive Channel will launch with three shows: “Ultimate Survivor,” “Destination Survival” and “You Can Thrive” through

“Ultimate Survivor” features a dozen stories of patients who were given an advanced or terminal cancer diagnosis with few weeks to live, but who outlived their prognosis.

“You Can Thrive” deals with mind, body and spiritual healing after cancer. The show will be hosted by Indian-American actress Namrata Singh Gujral (“Americanizing Shelley”), who recently underwent treatments for Burkitt’s Lymphoma blood cancer after fighting breast cancer in 2008.

  1. Given up says:

Was exposed to a carcinogen in the workplace resulting in being told you have cancer more than once. Complained to the safety officer there because 4/4 in one area and 17/22 in another have been diagnosed with C. My shoddy treatment at the same facility resulted in 1 rebuilt breast being 2 inches lower than the other rebuilt breast. Because I complained that more have been recently diagnosed and mine is now stage 4 they fired me for causing a hostile environment! Double death sentence no job and meta. For cancer care and treatment stay away from Scripps San Diego. Have a show about that and the botched surgeries and infections they offer cancer stricken employees and former ones(fired, retired or dead).
