Under the new pact, Bunim-Murray will have exclusive access to WikkedCat’s unscripted series, with an emphasis on creating celebrity-centric reality franchises.
WikkedCat, the production company formed by Stella Bulochnikov and Brian Sher, is behind VH1’s “T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle,” currently in its fifth season, plus its spinoff “Tiny & Shekinah’s Weave Trip,” Christina Milian’s E! series “Turned Up,” which is shooting its second season, plus the cabler’s “Nicki Minaj’s My Truth” and MTV’s “Road to Redemption.”
Currently, a slew of unscripted projects and specials are in development at WikkedCat with high-profile talent, including Mariah Carey, Lil Wayne and Mel B.
Gil Goldschein, chairman and CEO of Bunim-Murray Productions, commented, “Bunim-Murray has a long history of creating and producing some of the most enduring reality series and franchises, and we don’t plan on slowing down. Stella and Brian are masters of working with talent, and as we talked about the shows we all want to make, it became clear that there was a huge opportunity to partner, especially with their amazing access and our shared celeb-reality expertise.”
“We are honored to be partnering with Bunim/Murray Productions, a company that pioneered reality television, to continue to create talent-focused unscripted content that connects with viewers, while also having a lot of fun in the process,” said Bulochnikov. Sher added, “All it took was one meeting with Jon [Murray and Gil to know that Bunim-Murray was the ideal home for us. They are a world class organization with an unmatched track record, so we see this as the perfect opportunity to marry our talent relationships with their production expertise.”
Prior to WikkedCat, Bulochnikov’s company Wikked TV launched “Paris Hilton’s My New BFF” for MTV, plus more shows for the cabler in which T.I., 50 Cent and DJ AM starred. She also created unscripted projects for VH1 and CMT, and manages Mariah Carey. Before Wikked TV, she held the post of SVP of celebrity talent and original programming at VH1, creating the “Celebreality” brand for the network.
Sher launched his own management and production company Category 5 Entertainment in 2009 where he reps film, TV and music talent. He currently serves as an exec producer on Oxygen’s “Sisterhood of Hip Hop,” and was an EP on BET’s “Michael Vick Project.” Before launching Category 5, Sher was a talent agent at ICM for almost a decade.
Bunim-Murray Prods. is behind reality hits “The Real World,” “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” “Project Runway” and E!’s summer series “I Am Cait.”
