Bill Carter, a former New York Times TV reporter and author, is joining CNN as a contributor.

Carter will be reuniting with fellow New York Times alum Brian Stelter, and reporting, as well as offering analysis and commentary, on the media.

Carter worked at the Times for more than 25 years as a media writer. He is also the author of four books, including “The Late Shift,” “Desperate Networks” and “The War for Late Night.” He was a TV critic for the Baltimore Sun for 14 years before joining the Times in 1989.

The journalist made his first appearance as a CNN contributor this morning on “New Day,” and will be seen again this Sunday on “Reliable Sources” with Stelter.
