Gordon is known for roles in Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black” and the film “I Am Sam.” She appears in the upcoming films “Love the Coopers,” directed by “Sam’s” Jessie Nelson, and “Ithaca,” directed by Meg Ryan. She is repped by the Burstein Co. and Paradigm.
“Animal Kingdom” is based on the 2010 movie written and directed by David Michod, a project that resulted in Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for actress Jacki Weaver. The story follows Cole’s character as he discovers that his family’s life of indulgence and excess is funded by criminal activities, including bank robberies. He soon learns that joining the family comes with more danger and excitement than he might be ready to handle.
Ellen Barkin takes over Weaver’s part, playing Janine “Smurf” Cody, the boot-tough matriarch of this organized crime family. The cast also includes Scott Speedman as Barry “Baz” Brown, the adopted family member who leads the armed robberies, and Daniella Alonso as Catherine, his de facto wife and the mother of their 3-year-old daughter.
“Animal Kingdom” is produced by John Wells Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television. Wells, Jonathan Lisco, Andrew Stearn, Michod and Liz Watts are exec producing. Wells will also direct the pilot, which is penned by Lisco.
