Amy Schumer joins the murderer’s row of comedians who have turned down the host’s chair at “The Daily Show” left vacant by Jon Stewart’s departure.

Like Amy Poehler and Chris Rock, who also turned down the gig, Schumer was approached to fill the void that would eventually be filled by Trevor Noah. The comedienne already writes and stars in Comedy Central’s “Inside Amy Schumer.”

In an interview with the Daily Beast, Schumer revealed that the offer had been made, but explained that she didn’t want to make a long-term career commitment.

“I was so honored to be asked and considered,” Schumer said. “With Comedy Central, I project so much ‘You’re my parents!’ on the network and the people that run it, so them saying, ‘We believe in you and trust that you can do this,’ I thought, ‘Oh my god, thank you!’”

She added, “And then I thought, ‘Well, I could give everyone I love a job and we could all be together for five years. But picturing being in a building and knowing what I was going to do for five years — I love not knowing. And I’ve never done anything safe or to make money for that reason. So, you know, I said, ‘I can’t start now.’”

Schumer can be seen next in the Judd Apatow-directed comedy ‘Trainwreck,” which bows in theaters July 17.

I would stop watching the daily show if she took over. She’s a decent comedian but I don’t think she would fit in very well
