AMC Networks has named Bernadette Simpao vice president of corporate communications, the cabler announced Tuesday. She will be based in New York and report to Jim Maiella, AMC Networks senior VP of corporate communications.
Simpao comes from Viacom, where she spent 10 years in various communication roles, most recently as senior director of communications for Viacom International Media Networks.
“Bernadette is a talented, accomplished communicator with a valuable mix of both business/trade and consumer press experience,” Maiella said. “She is a strong addition to the communications teams supporting both AMC and IFC Films, and I know both brands will benefit from her strategic perspective and great eye for the newsworthy developments that drive our business.”
At Viacom, Simpao oversaw internal communications, plus corporate communications and consumer publicity for the company’s portfolio outside the U.S., including MTV, Nickelodeon, BET and Comedy Central. From 2007 to 2009, she held the post of manager of communications and public affairs for BET Networks.
