LONDON — Commercial broadcaster ITV has secured exclusive rights in the U.K. to seasons three and four of espionage drama “The Americans.”

The series, which received two Emmy nominations last week, will air on ITV’s pay TV channel ITV Encore, which is dedicated to bigger-budget drama.

The first two seasons of “The Americans” aired on ITV in June 2013 and May 2014. They will be retransmitted on ITV Encore from this month, with the third season starting later this summer.

“The Americans” is a period drama about the complex marriage of two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington, D.C., shortly after Ronald Reagan is elected President. The arranged marriage of Philip (Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth Jennings (Keri Russell), who have two children, grows more passionate and genuine by the day.

“The Americans,” which is co-produced by Fox Television Studios and FX Prods., was created by Joe Weisberg (“Falling Skies,” “Damages”), and is distributed by Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution. Sasha Breslau, head of acquired series at ITV, and Steve Cornish, senior VP and managing director at Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution, brokered the deal.
