Lifetime has signed onto co-produce with BBC One a miniseries based on the Agatha Christie murder mystery novel “And Then There Were None.”

The series is set on the brink of world war in 1939 England and follows 10 strangers with dubious pasts who are lured to Soldier Island, an isolated rock near southern England’s Devon coast. Cut off from the mainland, the travelers learn that their host is mysteriously absent and that they are each accused of a terrible crime. As members of the party start to die mysteriously, the survivors realize they may be harboring a murderer among their number.

BBC announced the project in February.

The adaptation is penned by Sarah Phelps (“The Casual Vacancy,” “Great Expectations”) and stars Douglas Booth, Charles Dance, Maeve Dermody, Burn Gorman, Anna Maxwell Martin, Sam Neill, Miranda Richardson, Toby Stephens, Noah Taylor and Aidan Turner.

Abi Bach is producing. Exec producers are Mathew Prichard and Hilary Strong for Agatha Christie Productions, Karen Thrussell and Damien Timmer for Mammoth Screen and Matthew Read for the BBC. A+E Networks is handling international sales under the A+E Studios International banner.

BBC One will air “And Then There Were None” as a three-episode installment later this year as part of a celebration of Christie’s 125th birthday. It will air on Lifetime as a two-part miniseries in 2016. Production is under way in London and Cornwall in the U.K.

BBC is also adapting the Christie novel “Partners in Crime,” which will make its U.S. debut on streaming service Acorn TV on September 3.

The first Agatha Christie book I ever read back when I was a kid. Loved it. I was looking forward to the series considering who was in the cast. Watched the first episode on Lifetime but the 2nd & ‘conclusion’ episode ended up being a repeat of the 1st, with a lead in of the second! What gives!

  2. Diane Baker says:

I watched episodes 1 and 2 on Lifetime in US in March but I can’t find episode 3 anywhere. How many episodes are there and when will they air in the US?

  3. Barbara Saulsbury says:

Absolutely looking forward to this series. Recently listened to the audio version of ” And Then There Were None”, read by Dan Stevens. Having Aidan Turner in the show is all one could hope for!!

Aidan Turner’s star is definitly on the rise! I’ll watch him in anything and it helps that I love a good ol’ mystery. Fingers crossed it plays here on Mastrpiece Mystery!

It bothers me that Lifetime is involved. Recently, all they produce are movies involving psycho teenagers looking for revenge.

He’s the best looking man I have ever seen!

  7. Anything with Aidan Turner is good by me. Such a fabulous actor along with being so damn handsome.
