Singapore state media group MediaCorp has appointed director turned TV executive Cheah Chee Kong (better known as CheeK) to the newly created position of chief content officer for its entertainment platforms.
Cheek joins the corporation after recently being at Scripps Networks Interactive, Asia Pacific. He started his TV career at MediaCorp and has subsequently held roles at Star TV in Hong Kong and MTV in Japan. His film credits include “Chicken Rice War,” while in 2011 he directed the TV series “the Kitchen Musical,” which was distributed by AXN.
He is required to drive content strategy and development for its extensive portfolio of entertainment products across its TV and digital platforms as well as content syndication.
Doreen Neo, head of studios and Georgina Chang, head of The Celebrity Agency, will report to Cheah, who in turn reports to MediaCorp CEO Shaun Seow.
“Cheek’s experience and expertise will ensure we continue to develop relevant, innovative and marketable content for Singapore and the international market,” said Seow.
