celebrated Pride Week and an impeccably timed Supreme Court decision with “Trailblazer Honors,” which taped Thursday at New York’s the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. The telecast will air on Saturday at 8 p.m.

President Barack Obama sent a video message celebrating the network’s 10 years on the air and referenced Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair cover. “When this network aired its first show, gay marriage was a political wedge issue used to divide us. Today the majority of Americans live in states where they can get married, no matter who they love. And all you have to do is look at this month’s cover of Vanity Fair to see how America is more accepting of people for who they truly are.”

Adam Lambert and Jack Antonoff and the Bleachers performed. Other presenters included Raven Symone, Tyler Posey and Martin Luther King III.

  1. The demoralization of the United States of America

  2. June says:

Bruce Jenner is mentally ill and looks like a complete joke in a dress. He is an insult to all real women.

  3. Hank says:

My goodness, Obama is just a friggin’ joke. Does he even care anymore?

  4. Terry Nava says:

I am going to praise Sue Wilson for such an enlightened comment not only about the President, but about society and our history. I couldn’t have said it better!
Without acceptance and change we would have become a stagnant nation. If the very narrow minded conservatives do not change with the times, surely their little world will crumble!!

  5. Terry Nava says:

I enjoyed the President ‘s introduction. President Obama has made great strides to bring equality and fairness to all American citizens. I’m proud to say I have his back! He works tirelessly to promote policies he calls “economic priorities.” He also works diligently to make changes in our policies that will bring more economic security for working women families, students , and Seniors.

  6. Reality Check 101 says:

So the President of the United States has stooped to glorifying the “courage” of transvestites who are among the worst imaginable fathers to their children and set horrible role models for young Americans and parents??? The perceptions of “profiles in courage” have fallen a VERY long way from President Kennedy to Obama and our civilization is far worse off for this regression. Civilizations that glorify selfish con artists like “Caitlyn” are in rapid decline into the abyss.

“Caitlyn” is an absurd, selfish and demented freak show of a human being who cares more about his/her own pathetic desires and exploiting the worst instincts of other people to make money than what is in the best interests of his/her children. The same children that he ignored most of their lives and then dragged into the global social perversions of the Kardashian clan that somehow made sex tapes, immorality and trailer trash behavior the basis for wealth, celebrity and degrading American society for ill gotten gains.

He/she is a shining example of everything that is wrong with American society today. All that is missing are some ridiculous full body tattoos and a freak show boyfriend/girlfriend who is willing to compromise their character to cash in on “Caitlyn’s” transvestite scam as the President is attempting to do by glorifying his/her horrific behavior toward his children and American society as a whole.

People who see his/her absurd behavior as “courage” are no better than “Caitlyn”. Sad, pathetic human beings. How would you feel if your father treated you the way Bruce/Caitlyn has treated his/her children???

  7. Sal U. Lloyd says:

Mr. President, do you pander to the point that you cannot recognize a media whore when you see one???

    • Sue Wilson says:

Who gave you the right to judge other people? You have no idea what Caitlyn’s brain messages are telling her. Do you think she changed herself for money or fame? He didn’t need that.

I feel sorry for you that you feel so much internal pain about her. Society is changing, like society has changed over centuries. You can choose to live in your little bubble of hate and criticism, or you can open up your brain to new and different people. Acceptance is so much less stressful. If you don’t approve of something, fine. No one is forcing you to accept everyone. But, when you spout hatred and you criticize, you are only hurting yourself. You are not going to change anyone’s opinions.

    • norah says:

i think the phrase is disrespectful in every sense of the word – the president is simply acknowledging how brave caitlyn jenner is being – nothing wrong with that .

      • Sal U. Lloyd says:

Nothing brave about knowing the mikes will be in your face and the cameras clicking.
