The Friends of the Israel Defense Forces raised more than $34 million at its annual Western Region Gala on Nov. 5 at the Beverly Hilton.
The org’s popular charity event, chaired by Haim Saban and wife Cheryl, was attended by Jason Alexander, Antonio Banderas, Ari Emanuel, Liev Schreiber, Jason Segel, Gene Simmons and Mark Wahlberg to recognize and support the Israeli soldiers and the families of those that have fallen.
“For the past nine years I have watched this gala grow into the preeminent charity event it is today, and I am truly humbled by the funds raised, which are a testament to the importance of the FIDF organization and its mission,” said Haim Saban, who contributed $5 million. “The overwhelming support from the Los Angeles community continues to amaze me.”
The evening included performances by David Foster & Friends, The Beach Boys and Asanda Jezile. The FIDF supports educational, cultural, social, and recreational programs for Israel’s Defense Forces.
