Ox & Son Keeps It Rustic In Santa Monica

Ox & Son Restaurant Opens In
Tomo Muscionico

Chef Brad Miller may have been a little more vegetable-focused at his former gig at Inn of the Seventh Ray, but at Ox & Son, the new dinner-only spot that replaces Cafe Montana, he’s exploring rustic, meaty fare inspired by his butcher father. The team calls the menu at the comfortable neighborhood restaurant “elevated comfort food,” with hearty items like chicken-fried duck confit, sticky pig cheeks with black vinegar glaze and mushroom gnocchi.

Eat: Benton’s ham and corn griddle cake with maple butter; Lemon-strawberry malt dessert with milk-soaked yellow cake and lemon curd

Drink: Wines from San Diego, Napa, Spain, Italy and France; beers including Goose Island Sofie saison or Schlitz on tap in vintage Schlitz goblets

Go: 1534 Montana Ave., Santa Monica
