The world’s greatest sports stars, from Golden State Warrior Stephen Curry to skier Lindsey Vonn, took a night off from training to face the threat of slime at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports Awards Thursday.

The Kids’ Choice Sports awards are meant to honor the biggest and best athletes from all sports. Curry and daughter Riley stole the show, which was taped at the Pauley Pavilion on the UCLA campus. Curry won three awards: Clutch Player of the Year, Sickest Moves and Best Male Athlete, which he brought Riley up on stage for while he accepted. He then asked the audience to say an early “Happy birthday” to her.

“To win this award is a great honor,” Curry said during his first win as chants of “MVP” drowned him out.

Host Russell Wilson, quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks, helmed the show and also took home the Best Cannon award for his powerful arm.

“Winning a Super Bowl is pretty cool, but this? It can’t get any better,” Russell joked about the Seahawks’ last-second loss this year.

The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team was a centerpiece of the night. The show opened with flashing red, white and blue lights and chants of “USA” while the team walked on stage. Alex Morgan was awarded Best Female Athlete.

Other awards included Vonn winning the Don’t Try This at Home award, Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch winning Biggest Powerhouse and retired New York Yankee Derek Jeter winning the Legend Award, for which he got a gold blimp and gold slime.

“To all the kids out there: dream big, set your goals high, work extremely hard at it and surround yourself with positive people,” Jeter said.

In Nickelodeon tradition, the carpet before the show was bright orange. Kids watched stars walk the carpet from bleachers and could play basketball on a court along with athletes.

“We love producing the Nick Kids’ Choice Sports Awards because it is a non-stop action filled roller coaster ride of challenges, sports and slime,” said Hamish Hamilton, director and executive producer of Done + Dusted Productions. Ian Stewart is also credited as an executive producer.

Two young athletes stole the show in sporting feats of their own. Roee Moor, a soccer player, hit the top post of a soccer goal with a soccer ball on his first attempt and 14-year-old Jonathan Clarke hit a half court basketball shot on his first attempt as well. Both won $50,000.

Russell also received a sliming. YouTube sports group Dude Perfect hooked Russell up to a giant bullseye and got athletes to pelt him with slime-filled balloons, eventually blasting him with a spray of green.
