Vanessa Hudgens, Misty Copeland to be Feted at Industry Dance Awards

Vanessa Hudgens, Misty Copeland and Rita Moreno are among the honorees at the 2015 Industry Dance awards, which will take place Aug. 19 at the Avalon nightclub in Hollywood.

The awards fete and unite dancers and teachers to benefit Dancers Against Cancer and Circle of Hope Dance Foundation.

“West Side Story” actress Rita Moreno will receive a lifetime achievement award, presented by recent addition to the “So You Think You Can Dance” judging panel, Paula Abdul. Choreographers Mia Michaels and Vincent Paterson earned the innovator and dance icon awards respectively, and “Dancing With the Stars” judge Carrie Ann Inaba will be presented with the role model award. Nigel Lythgoe will return as a presenter.

Other honorees include dancer and choreographer Ian Eastwood who will take home the new media influence award, breakthrough performer Vanessa Hudgens for her work on Broadway in “Gigi” and American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Misty Copeland, who will receive the trailblazer award.

Insider correspondent Keltie Knight and Robert Hoffman (“Step Up 2: The Streets”) will host the ceremony.

The Industry Dance awards are directed by Troy Christian and executive produced by Noah Lands along with producers Adrian Ruiz, Matthew Diaz-Caldwell and Christy Lopez.
