Paramount Pictures’ “Zoolander 2″ has broken the record for the most online views for a comedy trailer since the promo launched Nov. 18, having been watched 52.2 million times in its first week of release.

Stiller directs himself as Derek Zoolander in the comedy sequel. The film also stars Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell, Penélope Cruz, Kristen Wiig, Fred Armisen, Milla Jovovich, Christine Taylor, Justin Theroux and Kyle Mooney.

In the film, Stiller’s fashion model Derek Zoolander teams up with his rival Hansel (Wilson) to prevent the assassinations of the most beautiful people in the world — including stars like Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Usher and Lenny Kravitz. The trailer also includes cameos from Benedict Cumberbatch and Bieber.

“Zoolander 2” is written by Theroux, Stiller, Nick Stoller and John Hamburg. Stiller, Stuart Cornfeld, Scott Rudin and Clayton Townsend are producing. Jeff Mann is executive producing.

The movie opens on Feb. 12.

The previous record for most views for a comedy trailer was “Dumb and Dumber To,” which had 49 million views in one week.

Even though it made fun of boys that like to dress like girls? Shame!

  2. Dr3yec says:

So much for the shemale boycott of the movie. LOL

  3. Sean says:

13 Million views showing on that YouTube video, but 52.2 Million total. Would love to see all the channels adding up to that which are organic views. Dumb and Dumber To looks like the most views came from a placement on the Fallon YT channel. It’s interesting what’s considered organic now. If you needed to buy those views that’s about a 2.6 million media buy to get them.

I am trilled, this is what happens when a few nutjob fascists from tumblr and twitter decide what we can and can not see or watch, without even themselves seeing it first. I’m as liberal as they come normally wouldn’t watch this but going to now due to idiots protesting.
