Indie producer Jordan Yale Levine has optioned the film rights to the play “Scared of Sarah” with Aya Cash attached to star.
Levine will produce through his Yale Productions banner, with Laura Brienza adapting the script.
The story follows a twentysomething married couple as they prepare for the birth of their first child. A law student with a mountain of debt, the husband worries about his ability to provide, while the wife’s fears revolve around her older, high-functioning autistic sister.
“Scared of Sarah” was developed at the Kennedy Center’s Page-to-Stage Festival and the Lark Play Development Center before going on to feature at the New York International Fringe Festival and Sidecar Theatre Company. It will next be seen at Pittsburgh’s Off the Wall Performing Arts Center in the fall.
Cash stars on FXX’s “You’re the Worst,” which earned her rave reviews in its first season and was recently renewed for a second. Other film credits include “The Wolf of Wall Street” and “Begin Again.”
She is repped by Management 360 and UTA.
In addition to “Scared of Sarah,” Yale Productions is in production on the indie family-friendly Christmas feature “My First Christmas,” starring Sean Patrick Flanery and Valerie Cruz.
