Wonder Woman” has officially begun filming, and topliner Gal Gadot shared a photo of herself as the superhero to celebrate the occasion.

Gadot tweeted a photo of herself in a cloak and Wonder Woman’s famous tiara with a foggy London scene visible in the background. “Almost 75 years in the making… is underway,” she said.

Chris Pine joins Gadot in the cast as Captain Steve Trevor, along with Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Said Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya and Lucy Davis.

Gadot will first step into Wonder Woman’s patriotic uniform in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” this spring; the standalone film drops June 23, 2017.

  1. Some of you people REALLY need therapy. It’s cool to have an opinion and we all have many, but some of you “children” who wish for the movie to fail and know it’s going to suck BEFORE the movie is even finished, should check yourselves out a bit. Some of you need to “RELAX,” in the immortal words of Aaron Rodgers and make a mature decision after YOU SEE THE FILM…..There really should be an age limit for playing on the internet and don’t bother leaving some quippy or to-cool-for-the-room response, I’m not comin’ back to check….

  2. CHAD WREN says:

    UH, I’VE SEEN XENA ALREADY.

  3. Walter Willisness says:

If I was Bruce Willis and I wasn’t already married, I ask this pretty peach Gal to like shut up and marry me! Then we could Moonlight some! Then play chess and drink birch beer! Then I’d teach her about L-O-V-E!

  4. Malik Ahmed Johnson says:

It’s going to suck!!! She looks like a person doing cosplay. She just doesn’t look like a wonder woman to me.

  5. MyOpinion says:

She was the best thing in the Batman/Superman trailer.

  6. Spider says:

Interesting! Can’t wait to see how she pulls off the role.

  7. amr galal says:

    Great

  8. James says:

    No thanks, she can’t act!

  9. ZL says:

She really still looks too thin boned, even in that picture, but especially in the preview. And I mean thin BONED, not just muscular. Lucy Lawless looked like a damn Amazon. THAT’S a battle model.

  10. DieNu52 says:

I am utterly disgusted in this so called Wonder Woman! It’s a sick and rediculous joke by DC Comics and Warner Bros. and I hope the movie blows up in their faces and tanks. 75 years to get to the big screen and they hand us this turd. Sickening!!!

    • liquidmuse says:

Ok. So you hope it fails so they don’t try again for 10 years? Hell, I’m still waiting for another Sheena movie (predates WW in the comics), it’s been 30 years since that failure. Find me another beautiful, credible, strong, talented actress with curves and muscles. I’ll wait. Meanwhile, Gal’s growing into the role and has awesome support behind her.
I.e., you literally don’t know what you’re talking about yet. Let me guess, unless blue eyes bathing suit and boobs, no Wonder Woman? Grow up.

  11. Bob says:

We wouldn’t accept a thin/frail looking Superman or Thor, but women are treated differently. Hollywood and fashion hate women with muscles, and they expect everyone to just accept their preferences over reality. Strong, athletic girls like Ronda Rousey continue to fight body image issues, because of what Hollywood pushes at our young girls. Now, in 2015, an age where strong women are allowed to fight in MMA, Hollywood is taking the most powerful female icon, and casting it with an actress with an anorexic look. Shameful. I feel sad for every strong girl out there that has to continue to deal with Hollywood body shaming.

    • liquidmuse says:

She’s bulking up. She’s NOT sporting the F and F look. She will look much better in the film, and much better in further films. The fact you’re painting her as anorexic kinda shows you’re out of touch with her progress.

Plus, I’m kinda sick that people think some magical combination of beauty, brains, strength, height, talent, ETC exists. You pick someone like Gal and let her develop.

Your rant about non-muscular male heroes was well formed, however, Keaton and Reeve were NOT built in their roles, and they’re beloved.

      • Bob says:

She hasn’t bulked up, and doesn’t have the frame for it anyway. She’s lucky to be frail in a society that demands women stay that way, but we don’t need a frail woman portraying our most powerful female icon.

This is bulked up? Are you nuts? She looks like she’d snap her arm if she tried to arm wrestled Ronda Rousey.

You obviously have some relation or affinity to Gal Gadot, so you’re trying to protect her. The rest of us see these as two things:
        1. Bad casting for the strongest female icon
        2. A bad message to send strong, athletic young women with body issues because of these images from Hollywood and fashion.

    • DieNu52 says:

I wouldn’t say Wonder Woman has to be a body builder type but the actress could at least look the part unlike this model they chose. She will NEVER BE WONDER WOMAN of any real sort. Wonder Woman has blue eyes and is in a red, white and blue costume with stars. This casting and costume choosing is a mess along with going in the Nu52 direction. A legacy now destroyed. Body builder or skinny as a french fry this twig is no Wonder Woman no matter how much she works out. Someone call Lynda Carter for input and get Zack screw it up Snyder out of there. He ruined Superman and now he is ruining Wonder Woman. God I hate that jerk! Fire him!!!!!!!!!

      • liquidmuse says:

        Wow, settle down dude.

First of all, your massive bias towards your pubescent childhood shows in not calling Lynda Carter a twig. Newsflash—Gal now has more muscle on her than Lynda ever did. Lynda also had massive padding in her hips and boobs, so she was cheating the curve scale too. And Lynda wasn’t exactly a thespian before or after WW, while Gal’s movie career is actually already better (check her IMDB).

As for blue eyes, think about it—every hero created pre-1950 or so had Anglo eyes, because that look was the American dominant look. NOT ANYMORE. Let me guess, you want Momoa out of the Aquaman role because he’s not blonde and blue eyed. Look, I’m not a fan of changing iconic heroes’ gender or race, BUT WONDER WOMAN IS GREEK AND FROM A TROPICAL ISLE. What part of that reads “Anglo-Saxon” to you?

As for you obsession with stars on her pants—the entire world has agreed the BvS costume designer is knocking it out of the park. A spangly/cheesy swimsuit with stars fits in the 70s, but not in the modern era. Did they ruin Batman when they took away his shorts? Just be happy she’s still showing so much skin.
