Women in Film and ArcLight Cinemas have partnered to launch a curated, monthly screening series to concentrate on female filmmakers.
“One of the best ways to support female filmmakers is to go see their films,” said WIF executive director Kirsten Schaffer. “We are excited to present this series with ArcLight Cinemas so that we can highlight the work of experienced filmmakers and also introduce new talent to Los Angeles audiences.”
The inaugural feature will be the romantic drama “6 Years,” starring Taissa Farmiga and Ben Rosenfield. It will screen Aug. 25 and be followed by a Q&A with the film’s two stars and writer-director Hannah Fidell.
“In an effort to provide a unique perspective into film for all movie lovers, ArcLight Cinemas aspires to bring the art of filmmaking to life in our theaters in new ways,” McCourt said. “We are thrilled to partner with Women in Film to showcase the talent of women who have played a major role in helping shape the art of filmmaking and we are pleased to honor their work in our theater.”
The program aligns with Women in Film’s mission of promoting creative female media makers via a unique venue to view their work and engage in discussion.
