After receiving an Emmy nomination for her work on Netflix’s “House of Cards,” Rachel Brosnahan has found her next big role alongside James Franco and Melissa Leo in “The Fixer,” Variety has learned exclusively.
Ian Olds will direct and co-write the script with Paul Felten.
The story follows a young Afghan journalist exiled from his war-torn country to a small bohemian community in Northern California. When he attempts to turn his menial job on the local police blotter into “Afghan-style” coverage of local crime, he gets drawn into the backwoods of this small town — a shadow Northern California where sex is casual, true friendship is hard to come by, and an unfamiliar form of violence bubbles up all around him.
Caroline von Kuhn, Lily Whitsitt and Adeel Ahmed will produce the film.
Brosnahan can next be seen in season two of WGN’s “Manhattan,” and “Louder Than Bombs” which the Orchard is releasing in spring 2016. She recently wrapped Disney drama “The Finest Hours” alongside Chris Pine and Eric Bana.
She is repped by Innovative Artists and Carole Dibo Talent Management.
