The first trailer for “The Angry Birds Movie,” a feature based on the mega-popular mobile game app, was released on Wednesday.
The trailer appropriately opens with the Carpenters hit “Close To You,” as main character Red, voiced by Jason Sudeikis, mistakenly assumes that some female birds are trying to get his attention.
The teaser also gives a first look at Josh Gad’s speedy Chuck, Danny McBride’s accident-prone and volatile Bomb and the presumably villainous pig Leonard, voiced by Bill Hader.
Other voice cast members include “Saturday Night Live” star Kate McKinnon, Keegan-Michael Key, Tony Hale, Ike Barinholtz, Hannibal Buress, Cristela Alonzo, Jillian Bell, Latin musician Romeo Santos and YouTube stars Smosh (Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla).
“The Angry Birds Movie” opens May 2016.
