PARIS– Canal Plus Group has appointed former Sony Pictures exec Simon Barthe and Antoine Banet-Rivet as Studiocanal’s exec VP of digital and head of communications, respectively.
Bathe will report to Rodolphe Buet, the president of Studiocanal’s international distribution and marketing. Simon Bathe joins Studiocanal from Sony Pictures where he worked at director of digital in Munich, oversaw pay TV for German-speaking territories and most recently digital distribution for Latin America.
Banet-Rivet, who joined Canal Plus in 2000, has been heading communications for the paybox group’s news channel iTELE as well as spearheading corporate communications — which he will continue handling in parallel with his responsibilities at Studiocanal. Banet-Rivet will report to Laurence Gallot, executive VP of communications and partnership for Canal Plus Group.
Banet-Rivet started his career as an editor at the prestigious publishing house Gallimard and worked in communications at Heinz USA in Pittsburgh and in journalism for local newspapers in the U.S..
Sophie Kopaczynski, who previously ran Studiocanal communications, has been appointed exec VP of catalogue and brands strategy for Studiocanal. Like Barthe, Kopaczynski will also report Buet.
