The Entertainment Industry Foundation, the org behind Stand Up to Cancer, has announced that a live, one-hour special for its Think It Up education initiative will air on all four U.S. broadcast networks on Sept. 11.
The fundraiser will feature live musical performances and comedy from celebrities including Kristen Bell, Stephen Colbert, Scarlett Johansson, Matthew McConaughey, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeremy Renner, Ryan Seacrest and Jessica Williams.
According to an official statement, Think It Up “seeks to inaugurate a new movement in support of the nation’s students, teachers and schools, helping generate excitement about learning everywhere in America and building a sense of optimism about the changes under way in classrooms across the country.”
During the live broadcast, Think It Up will launch a donation program through its website, thinkitup.org. The telecast will also highlight stories of teachers and students similar to those supported by the initiative.
“Our hope is that by creating opportunities to unlock their passions, talents and strengths, Think It Up will help students, working together with their teachers to forge lasting connections between their learning experiences now and the futures they shape for themselves,” said Sherry Lansing, chair of EIF’s board of directors.
