'X-Men: Apocalypse': Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan,

Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan and Alexandra Shipp have joined the cast of Fox’s “X-Men: Apocalypse.”

Turner will play Jean Grey, Shipp will portray Storm, and Sheridan will play Cyclops.

Bryan Singer tweeted the news of the castings on Thursday.

Singer is directing. Plot details are unknown.

Singer had been testing actors and actresses for the last couple of weeks, and sources indicated that Sheridan blew Singer away early on.

Oscar Isaac was previously cast as the titular villain in the comicbook movie. “X-Men” veterans Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy and Michael Fassebender will return for the next installment.

The pic bows on May 27, 2016.

Sheridan can be seen next in the Sundance pic “The Stanford Prison Experiment,” and Turner continues to appear on HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” Shipp can be seen next in “Straight Outta Compton.”

Sheridan is repped by WME and Mosaic, Turner by CAA and Independent Talent Group and Shipp by Osbrink Talent Agency and Elevate Entertainment.

obviosly the girl can ACT or she wouldn’t have been cast lol people make no sense and yes I have seen the Aliyah lifetime movie, she done a great job with what she was given, the people who made the movie didn’t have complete rights over her music so she did what she had to and in the drumline movie she did a tremendous job! She might not be as experienced of the actors but I guarantee she’s going to be the break out star in xmen apocalypse. I just know it!

  2. Sunny says:

This is the same person that cast Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane. He’s a genius when it comes to the men but he fails when it comes to women except for Famke, who would have been better as Rouge. And I will call out that person below – how can you say that someone is too dark to play a character? Every single prominent black woman in the XMen franchise has been the traditional Hollywood favorite cafe au lait. I thought that we’d moved past this. But the colour is not my main concern. This girl like her predecessor, Berry, does not give off a strong presence and power is the one thing that I associate with Storm.

  3. craig says:

I love the way Bryan Singer announced the names. Thank God he’s not one of those people.

  4. Stephen C says:

Singer if you had any clue about the X-men the Fox franchise would have topped Guardians and Avengers. You complete lack of knowledge has ruined the best Marvel franchise. Back to teen skinny dipping with your idiot Angel character.

  5. Sean Mac says:

My facebook wall is filled with Shipp-hate, extreme concern about a Lifetime TV Aaliyah biography pic actress getting a role Lupita is so obviously perfect for.

  6. Joe Wells says:

“Sheridan blew Singer away early on.”

    Guys! Phrasing!

  7. Is anyone going to point out that Sheridan is wearing a house key?

  8. aushad says:

I really hope the actors prove all of you negative a** people wrong atleast they are trying to make it better all you people do are scream we want lupita, like shes too old and shes too dark to play storm. storm may be black and from Africa but everyone whos from Africa isn’t black as coal!! and im not races I just have respect for what the producers are trying to do stay original, storm character in the comics is not dark shes light skinned so stf up and move on with your life and lets all just pray they give storm a STORY ARC we all love. can we please do that.

U are just wrong in every way… im so tired. I guess ill be watching this movie onlie. Im tired of giving my patronage to a system that does not respect my people.

    • hathor422 says:

My extreme dislike of Ship’s casting has nothing to do with her complexion. I get that they needed to cast an actress that could be a younger version of Halle Berry’s portrayal of Storm. My rant is based on the fact that the girl CAN’T ACT. Check out clips of her as the lead in the Lifetime Aaliyah biopic, or Drumline 2. I’m not hating on the girl band cause of her skin color. I am a pecan brown female with a teenage daughter the same shade as her, so it has nothing to do with color…She can’t act.

    • Amslayr says:

You have zero knowledge of what your talking about. Producers trying to stay true to the original?? Storm had always been a medium to dark tone in the comics or in TV shows. A simple image search can confirm this for the non informed. And yes while not every person from Africa isn’t “as black as coal”, which shows a lot about you, black skin tones run the gamut and not only to the extremes. So take your advice and keep quiet

    • airbrushed says:

Storm is not light skinned lol, she is a black woman from West Africa; he skin is rich in melanin and it is obvious from first glance. Neither Berry nor Shipp (although both very beautiful biracial women) have that Storm look to them – hence the uproar. Lupita physically is still the better choice for either of them. She isn’t as ‘black as coal’ as you indirectly described her, and so what if she was? You rarely hear about people moaning about a white character being “too pale” so even if someone darker skinned was to play Storm, there should be no issue. In fact it would be better; because Storm was a darker woman. A quick Google should set you in the right direction. Anywho, she’s a fictional character so who really cares!

  9. Well Jean certainly looks beautiful. Weather she can play Jean is another. Nice to see a new cast. This may improve the X-men saga yet. We’ll see though…

  10. Gobet says:

Movie adaptations vary…but this is all far from the actual comic book. Storm didn’t join until much later. The original members were Jean, Scott, Beast, Bobby, and Angel (the last two were portrayed by much younger characters/actors).

    • …haven’t you seen X-Men? The Professor clearly says that Jean, Scott and Storm were some of his first students…

      • magnetowasright says:

We’re talking about the comics here, and when they were starting out in 1963, the original members were Jean, Scott, Beast, Bobby, and angel, like Gobet said. The previous movies played fast and loose with comic book canon (especially recently), and it looks like this one will too.

  11. Guest says:

Turner is so boring and a terrible actor

  12. elegantvariant says:

I see what you did there Justin. Low blow!
