Sony Pictures is in talks to buy the movie rights to art-world thriller “Maestra” for former studio topper Amy Pascal to produce.
S.L. Knight’s yet-to-be-published novel is centered on an auction house employee who’s fired after identifying a forged painting. CAA is representing the feature film rights.
Pascal will produce through her yet-to-be-named production company. In February, she signed a first-look deal with the studio as part of her exit package from her posts as co-chair of Sony Pictures Entertainment and chair of its motion picture group.
She’s also producing the new “Spider-Man,” “Ghostbusters,” “Barbie,” the folksinging vehicle “Girls Like Us” and a reboot of “Little Women” with Denise Di Novi and Robin Swicord.
News about “Maestra” was first reported by Deadline.com.
