Fox 2000 is developing a movie based on Becky Albertalli’s coming-of-age novel “Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda.”

The studio has signed Elizabeth Berger and Isaac Aptaker to adapt. Producers are Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen and Isaac Klausner of Temple Hill Entertainment along with Pouya Shahbazian of New Leaf Literary & Media. New Leaf’s Chris McEwen will be associate producing.

The book centers on a 16-year-old closeted gay student who is dealing with his secret being exposed after one of his personal emails falls into the wrong hands. The novel was published in April by HarperCollins.

Temple Hill has been active in adapting novels for the big screen, including “The Maze Runner,” “Paper Towns” and “The Fault in our Stars.” Shahbazian is a producer of the “Divergent” movies.

The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
