Russell Brand has joined Nicolas Cage in the comedy “Army of One” with Larry Charles (“Borat”) directing.

Denis O’Hare, Ken Marino, Paul Scheer, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Rainn Wilson have also come on board. Endgame Entertainment and Conde Nast Entertainment are the production companies.

Cage and Charles became attached in January with Bob and Harvey Weinstein’s TWC-Dimension acquiring North American rights. The script was written by Scott Rothman and Rajiv Joseph and is loosely based on a GQ article by Chris Heath about Gary Faulkner, an ex-con who made 11 attempts to travel to the most volatile region of Pakistan to capture Osama bin Laden, armed with only a sword.

Producers are Dawn Ostroff and Jeremy Steckler of Conde Nast Entertainment, James D. Stern of Endgame Entertainment and Emile Gladstone. FilmNation is handling international sales.

Nicholas Cage hunting down Bin Laden with a sword, by the guy who brought us Borat. Dreams do come true

  2. Hagen McNalley says:

Russell Brand creeps me out. He seems to have a high-speed brain that is totally void of sincerity. Sociopath-like.
