Porn comedy 'Make Room' Wins Yubari

TOKYO –”Make Room,” a comedy based on director Kei Morikawa’s experiences in the porn industry, won the Grand Prix in the Fantastic Off-Theater Competition of the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival.

The 24th edition of the fest, which specializes in indie and genre titles, unspooled Feb. 19-23 in Yubari, on Hokkaido island.
 
The 50-year-old Morikawa, who cast his film with working porn actresses, was the oldest director to take home the festival’s top honor.
 
The Jury’s special award went to Ken Ninomiya’s “The Limit of Sleeping Beauty.”
  
By evening of the 22nd some 12,400 admissions had been recorded at the festival’s seven venues, where 84 films screened, nearly the same total as last year.
