“Now You See Me” director Louis Leterrier is in early negotiations to direct action-thriller “In the Deep.”
Sony bought the spec script by Tony Jaswinski in September and set it up with former Warner Bros executive Lynn Harris and Matti Leshem as part of their recently launched producing banner Weimaraner Republic Pictures.
The story centers on a young woman who’s surfing on an isolated beach and gets stranded on a buoy by a great white shark that’s between her and the shore.
Leshem told Variety that he and Harris were impressed with Leterrier’s take on the story, noting that the director and Harris worked together on 2010’s “Clash of the Titans.” “He’s a very visual director, and he’s got a very clear vision of what this will look like,” he added.
Leterrier’s credits include “The Incredible Hulk” and the first two “Transporter” movies. He’s currently directing spy comedy “Grimsby,” starring Sacha Baron Cohen and Rebel Wilson.
“In the Deep” was on the 2014 Black List.
Leterrier is repped by CAA.
