Laura Dern will receive the Rainmaker Award at the Maui Film Festival, running June 3-7.

The 16th annual fest, held at the Wailea Resort, also has firmed the Bill Pohlad-directed “Love & Mercy,” about Beach Boy Brian Wilson, as its opening-night film. In addition, three titles have been added to the lineup: “Mr. Holmes,” directed by Bill Condon and starring Ian McKellen; “Racing Extinction,” a docu helmed by Louie Psihoyos (“The Cove”); and “The Wave I Ride,” a documentary about Maui surfer Paige Alms, directed by Devyn Bisson.

The award to Dern will be presented at the Celestial Cinema on the closing night of the fest. In making the announcement, festival director Barry Rivers said the Rainmaker Award honors an artist who has the power “to profoundly and positively impact” every project they’re involved in. Rivers praised the actress’s “grace, humanity and luminosity” in her film and TV work.

Dern, Oscar-nominated this year for “Wild,” will next be seen in Ramin Bahrani’s “99 Homes” alongside Andrew Garfield and Michael Shannon.

Other honorees at the 16th annual fest include Colin Farrell, who was previously announced as recipient of the Navigator Award.
