Kristen Stewart’s ‘American Ultra’ Gets Release Date

Kristen Stewart American Ultra Release Date

Lionsgate has dated indie action-comedy “American Ultra,” starring Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart, for Aug. 21.

The studio acquired the project last year before shooting started in New Orleans with “Project X” director Nima Nourizadeh helming from a script by Max Landis. Eisenberg portrays a stoner and Stewart plays his girlfriend in a small town with his life taking an unexpected turn when his past comes back to haunt him and he becomes the target of a government operation to wipe him out.

“Ultra” reteams Stewart and Eisenberg six years after they starred in Greg Mottola’s “Adventureland.” Producers are Anthony Bregman for Likely Story, and David Alpert and Britton Rizzio for Circle of Confusion.

Focus is opening “Sinister 2” on the same date.

Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg, wishing you both a successful movie American Ultra! Hoping it will become a box office hit..I know it is an amazing and great film and i can`t wait to see..

  2. IMG says:

Dump month, huh? Not a good sign.

    • LOL says:

lol, the movie got great reactions, if it was a bomb, we’d know by now.

    • Nate says:

Not really. It’s only dump month for a superhero film. February, January, and April are more dump months. Even then dump months are not always accurate as several February films this year did well. The Man From Uncle and a couple of big films are opening in August, and the fact that Lionsgate pushed back a Ryan Reynolds film to January to give this film it’s slot is a good sign

    • Luc says:

ehat ? lol it’s summer, if they are going to release this movie in summer is because they have faith in it.

      • Guest says:

Inglourious Basterds was released on a 21 august for example. It’s a fine date, not a date for huge movies like Avengers, but for smaller films such as American Ultra that doesn’t need THAT much money (like 500m or something) in order to be a hit/succesful it’s a fine date.

      • IMG says:

The third week in August may still be summer according to the calendar but not according to the box office. its the start of the lowest attendance weeks of the summer.Last year box office dipped almost 30 million between the second and third weekend of august, and by the first week in September it was down 80m from the second week in August. And if you look at the numbers for 2013, 2012 and 2011, etc you see the same type of dips. That’s because attendance is way off during those weeks due to vacations (the last two weeks of August are the heaviest vacation time) and school starting again. If you think a movie is going to be a hit you don’t release it when you have the smallest audience – however if you want to bury it, that;s a good time to do it. The only movie in relatively recent history that was released the third week in August and went on to be a hit was Dirty Dancing – and that was a movie that the producers had suggested burning to recoup the cost from insurance, which is why it was released on August 21, 1987.
