Kristen Stewart is set to star in Olivier Assayas’s “Personal Shopper,” a Paris-set English-language ghost story taking place in the fashion underworld.

Assayas previously directed Stewart in “Sils Maria” which world premiered in competition at Cannes and earned Stewart a best actress Cesar (France’s Oscar equivalent), making her the first American actor to win a Cesar.

Penned by Assayas,”Personal Shopper” brings back the “Sils Maria” team: Producer Charles Gillibert for CG Cinema, MK2 for international sales and Les Films du Losange.

Gillibert said “Personal Shopper” will feature some of same themes as “Sils Maria” and will also have a genre/fantasy dimension.

Shooting will start in the last quarter of 2015 in Paris.

Gillibert has “Mustang,” the directorial debut of Turkish helmer Deniz Gamze Ergüven, playing at Directors’ Fortnight. Ahead of its world premiere on Monday, Ergüven is being buzzed about as a Turkish filmmaker to watch.

  3. crizo says:

Brad below to call little jobs work with Assays shows how stupid you are

  4. Brad says:

She’s really making up for that 18 month “hiatus” she took back in 2012/13. Still missing out on that big paycheck from the Universal sequel to SWATH, but all these little jobs are good for her indie cred.

  5. Gilda says:

This sounds really cool. Is Juliette free too? It would be perfect for her as she lives in Paris. Kristen was partying with Isabelle Huppert at the Chanel afterparty – maybe she is in.

  6. Jr says:

Good Luck Kristen! Your patience and humility would be rewarded! Please don’t give up your career for some RIPZ & twiglet.

    • crossfire72 says:

  7. Alex says:

  8. lol says:

Why exclusive?Info about a new movie is exclusive?LOL

    • SJ says:

The first person/outlet to report casting news generally calls it an exclusive. There is often competition among Deadline, Variety, THR, etc. to be able to claim an exclusive. If you follow film casting news, you will start to see it.

    • May says:

Clearly butthurt. Truthy is that you at it again?
Kristen Stewart, Oliver Assayas and Charles Gillbert what an amazing combination. Great things happen when those work on a project. Looking forward to this and with a Paris setting. Come on, what is there not to love?

    • Mia says:

I’m truly hoping this comment is a joke…

  9. How exciting! Another great opportunity to work with a director she loves to work nd who loves working with her. Karl Lagerfield really has faith in his muse. Fantastic!

  10. moni says:

Brilliant news, I literally just watched Clouds of Sils Maria and I still can’t get rid of it from my mind, such a good film with the best female performances I have seen in long time. Hopefully another award winning performance from Stewart, maybe OA should add JB again, this two are magic on the screen together.

  11. DrMomLovesLife says:

Ooh – looks fantastic! A ghost story in the fashion world! Will the Devil (if he/she appears) really wear Prada? Can’t wait to see this!

Any word on other casting yet?

  12. What I did for cash says:

I suppose Chanel will finance this one, too, they way they did with CoSM. Nice merchandising arrangement Gillibert and Assayas have going with Uncle Karl.

    • SJ says:

If Kristen can get financing through the fashion house with whom she currently has two campaigns, more power to her. That is actually extremely impressive and I would say a major coup. It doesn’t hurt being Karl Lagerfeld’s muse.

    • Jr says:

      Be real and stop bullying!

    • Naomi says:

Awesome news. Loved what they created in Clouds of Sils Maria so I can’t wait to hear more abou this
