The Orchard has acquired North American, U.K., Australian and New Zealand distribution rights to comedy-thriller “Ghost Team,” starring Jon Heder, David Krumholtz, Melonie Diaz and Paul W. Downs.

The film wrapped production last week and is slated for release at the end of 2016. Justin Long and Amy Sedaris also star.

Oliver Irving directed from a script by Peter Warren. Producers are Julie Christeas and Schuyler Weiss of Tandem Pictures, Alex Sagalchik of Mott Street Pictures, and Clem McIntosh and Oliver Irving. Kevin Iwashina of Preferred Content will executive produce.

Heder plays a paranormal-obsessed man who mounts his own investigation into the beyond with his depressed best friend, misfit nephew, a cable access medium and an overeager security guard. What results includes a terrifying brush with the entities haunting an abandoned farm.

The Orchard recently announced acquisitions of the horror film “Demon.” Recent releases include “Nasty Baby,” “The Overnight,” “Digging for Fire,” “Finders Keepers” and “Cartel Land.”

The deal was negotiated by Danielle DiGiacomo of the Orchard with Marc Bortz of Preferred Content, Marc Simon of Cowan Debaets Abrahams and Sheppard LLP on behalf of the filmmakers.
