John Heard, Cloris Leachman, Jacinda Barrett, Dash Mihok and Jessica Collins have been cast in road-trip drama “So B. It,” Variety has learned.
Variety reported in May that Alfre Woodard and Talitha Bateman would star in the adaptation of Sarah Weeks’ young adult novel.
Stephen Gyllenhaal is directing from a script by Garry Williams, which chronicles the journey of a 12-year-old girl (Bateman) who decides to take a solo cross-country trip and leave the safety of her home life with her mentally challenged mother (Collins) and agoraphobic neighbor, portrayed by Woodard.
Producers are Branded Pictures Entertainment’s J. Todd Harris and Orien Richman. Exec producers are Outside the Box Productions’ Adam Tenenbaum and Michael Nelson; Marc Marcum co-produces.
Production is set to begin July 13 in Los Angeles.
Heard recently guest starred on “Modern Family” and has a recurring role on “NCIS: Los Angeles.” Leachman will be seen next in “This Is Happening” and “Scouts vs. Zombies.” Barrett can be seen in Netflix series “Bloodline.”
Mihok currently stars in the Showtime series “Ray Donovan” and he will next be seen in the upcoming Relativity thriller “Before I Wake.” Collins next appears in Matthew McConaughey’s “The Free State of Jones.”
