Jim Carrey is in talks to star in the indie drama “True Crimes.”

Based on the New Yorker article by David Grann, the story follows a murder investigation that turns to clues found in a book about an eerily similar crime. Alexandros Avranas is directing; Brett Ratner and John Cheng are producing with David Gerson (“Skiptrace”), while “Ida” producer Ewa Puszczynska will serve as co-producer. Jeremy Brock penned the script.

Carrey was last seen in Universal and Red Granite’s “Dumb and Dumber To.” He is repped by WME.

That’s great that Dr. Jim Carrey may do “True Crimes”. What’s really great, is that it’s another drama. The movie he’s working on now, is a drama. I him in dramas. I prefer to see Jim Carrey in dramas than comedies.
