Jake Lloyd, who appeared as a child playing young Anakin Skywalker in 1999’s “Star Wars” prequel “The Phantom Menace,” has been arrested in South Carolina after leading police on a high-speed car chase, Colleton County authorities have confirmed.

Lloyd was driving in Charleston, S.C., when police attempted to pull him over. Lloyd then led authorities on a chase that went on for miles and ended when Lloyd lost control of his vehicle and crashed into trees.

The 26-year-old was arrested under the name Jame Broadbent with charges of failure to stop at a blue light and resisting arrest. He is currently in custody awaiting bond.

As a child, Lloyd also appeared in “Jingle All the Way,” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, and 2005’s “Madison,” starring Jim Caviezel.

In a recent interview, however, Lloyd revealed that he left the film business for good, saying his “Star Wars” fame ruined his childhood and made his life a “living hell.”

TMZ first reported the news. See his mugshot below.

uh…they explained pretty conclusively who, genius; some dumb-ass miscreant named Jake Lloyd, former child star of the most hilariously weak movie of 1996 AND ’99. THAT’S who.

  8. Josh biggs says:

It’s too bad that they didn’t wait to make part II and part III until Jake was old enough to play the role as an adult. He has a much better look, and is probable a lot less whiny than the actor that played a Anikin in the later films.
