Idris Elba, Imelda Staunton Make Queen’s Honours List

Idris Elba, Imelda Staunton and Barbara Windsor are among entertainment figures who were included in Queen Elizabeth’s Honours List for the New Year.

Others on the list include actors Sian Phillips and James Nesbitt, “Queen” screenwriter Peter Morgan, Blur frontman Damon Albarn and DJ Clifford Price.

Windsor (“East Enders”)  and Phillips (“Dune”) were made Dames; “Beasts of No Nation” star Elba, Nesbitt (“The Hobbit” trilogy) and Albarn became OBEs (Order of the British Empire); Staunton (“Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”) was made a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire); and Price aka Goldie an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire).

They are among 1,196 honorees conferred with titles this New Year’s by the queen of Britain. The list comes out twice a year, on her birthday in June and for the new year.
