Sony’s “Hotel Transylvania 2” has crossed the $400 million milestone in worldwide box office.

The 3D animated comedy has already surpassed the original’s lifetime box office, which totaled $358 million in 2012.

“Hotel Transylvania 2” took in $48 million in its opening weekend in the U.S., breaking the record for a September opening previously held by the original “Hotel Transylvania.”

The domestic total is currently $161.3 million while the international cume is at $241.1 million, led by $24 million in the U.K. and $23 million in Mexico.

Genndy Tartakovsky directed both films from scripts by Robert Smigel. Sony has already dated “Hotel Transylvania 3” for September, 2018.
