With pre-production currently under way and production set to start in early 2016, Universal Studios has decided to shoot sequels “Fifty Shades Darker” and “Fifty Shades Freed” back-to-back with James Foley at the helm.

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson return as lovers Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” sequels, while Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti are back as producers alongside author E.L. James.

Niall Leonard wrote both scripts, which are based on James’ best-selling novels.

“Fifty Shades Darker” is scheduled for release on Feb. 10, 2017; “Fifty Shades Freed” hits theaters Feb. 9, 2018.

The first “Fifty Shades of Grey” grossed more than $560 million at the global box office this year and was the No. 1 film worldwide for three consecutive weeks.

America isn’t missing a thing. It’s a good thing that this British import junk was never published and released in the real America. Maybe the British will set the sequels back in the original British settings instead of stupidly trying to set them in America and so painfully failing at it as they did for the first one.

  2. M. Dedd says:

Johnson & Dornan had zero chemistry in the first movie. I think they should have re-cast his part – it’s tough to get good onscreen chemistry from a man (according to his interviews) who’s completely in love with his new wife and baby. While I like Dornan, I just don’t think he’s up to this part. Christian and Ana need to have palpable on-screen chemistry, and Johnson and Dornan just fizzled for me.

  3. YES! I’m so glad they are filming them back to back. I loved the books and the movie.

  4. Fangirl says:

Oh, I was hoping for separate shootings for the two movies -two filmings, twice the fun- but this is fine too.

  5. Pamela Cousins says:

91/2 Weeks was similar theme but much sexier and Micky Rourke didn’t even get naked!

  6. Katherine Graham says:

The more we wait the more I’m over the whole story. Way too long in between movies to wait. It’s annoying. Sadly, the first movie was just okay. My expectations were set way to high. The books were so much better and very well written.

  7. Dave J. says:

“Basic Instincts” was even more erotic than this!
