The movie from the British filmmaker follows the construction of a luxury golf course on a beach in Aberdeenshire, Scotland and the subsequent clashes between Trump, the locals and government authorities. The film used scenes from the movie “Local Hero.”
“Collectivist in spirit, this mostly entertaining film lacks an official host or voiceover narration, which first works swimmingly but eventually becomes too diffuse,” Ronnie Scheib wrote in his review for Variety.
“Whether you support him or not, Donald Trump is everywhere these days,” said Ryan Markowitz, VP of Emerging Pictures. “This documentary gives insight into a project of his and how it was conducted, which is ever more important as he touts his business credentials as the mainstay of his presidential bid.”
Emerging Pictures said the film will be available through its WannaWatch.it social media platform, which makes it possible for audiences to request screenings in their market.
“By analyzing demand data across the exhibitor network, we’ve identified this documentary as an ideal way to capitalize on the current social dialogue surrounding Trump’s campaign,” says Ryan Nadel, exec VP of Emerging Pictures’ parent company, Twenty Year Media. “It’s ever more important for communities to gather and engage in the political conversation. Local movie theaters are a great place for this dialogue and ‘You’ve Been Trumped’ is the ideal movie to get that conversation started.”
