Feeling the holiday spirit, 20th Century Fox have released two new trailers for comic book pic “Deadpool” starring Ryan Reynolds — a red-band version and one that’s ok for the youngsters.

Reynolds had been teasing a trailer for the past few weeks, hinting at its release during the NBA marathon of games on Christmas Day. He even had a little help from his former “Wolverine” co-star Hugh Jackman, who teased the trailer on Christmas Eve.

Fox is opening “Deadpool” on Valentine’s Day weekend, making it the first of several highly-anticipated comic book pics bowing in 2016. Opening against it are “Zoolander 2” and Dakota Johnson romantic comedy “How to Be Single.”

Reynolds will play the vulgar antihero who first appeared in Fox’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” opposite Jackman. The studio soon began developing a spin-off which was in limbo for some time until test footage leaked, leaving a favorable impression on fans of the comic as well as general audiences and leading Fox to finally greenlight the film.

Tim Miller is directing the pic which also stars T.J. Miller, Morena Baccarin and Ed Skrein.

I think they keep going too funny with ads and posters. It’s fine that he’s a jokester, but let us know it will have good action and some of that will be handled right. Ads are akin to Green Lantern in more ways than one at this point.

  2. loco73 says:

Not too hyped about this movie. This marketing strategy is either a very effective tactic or it reeks of desperation. I guess once the movie opens we will see.

    Looks crap.

  4. cadavra says:

Hmm, a very-R-rated Marvel film. Kudos for thinking outside the box a little.

  5. Fred Mertz says:

Ho ho ho ho ho ho. Plenty of red splashes. Must be a Christmas flick.
