Gaumont has closed a clutch of promising pre-sales to Brazil (California), Canada (AZ Films), Switzerland (JMH), Greece (Oden), Benelux (Victory), Sweden and Denmark (Njuta) and Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand (Suraya).
Produced by Mathieu Tarot’s well-established Paris-based shingle Albertine Productions, “Courted” centers around the relationship between a tough yet revered criminal court judge (Fabrice Luchini) and a woman he’s silently admired for years who happens to be serving on a jury in a trial involving the death of a baby.
Pic brings together Luchini, one of France’s most bankable actors whose recent credits include “Gemma Bovery,” “Cycling With Moliere” and “The Women on the Sixth Floor” and Danish thesp Sidse Babett Knudsen, who previously toplined “The Duke of Burgundy” and “Borgen.”
Vincent’s last film “Haute Cuisine” (“Les saveurs du Palais”), about Daniele Delpeuch, the private chef of France’s late President François Mitterrand, was an international sales hit and earned its star Catherine Frot a Cesar nomination for best actress.
Gaumont will release “Courted” in France.
