The film is set for a North American premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on Sept. 14.
“Men and Chicken” centers on two brothers who, through meeting their long-lost family, also discover a horrible truth about themselves. The film was recently announced to be on Denmark’s shortlist for the best foreign language category at the 2016 Oscars.
Fantastic Fest, a division of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas, will present the U.S. premiere later this month. The movie will have a limited theatrical release in North America in 2016.
“Men and Chicken” has been sold to Imagine Film Distribution in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands; Vertigo Media in Hungary; Film Europe S.R.O. in the Czech Republic and Slovakia; and Estin Film in Estonia.
Production companies are M&M Productions, Studio Babelsberg, DCM Productions. Producers are Kim Magnusson and Tivi Magnusson; executive producers are Joel Brandeis, Christoph Daniel, Christoph Fisser, Henning Molfenter, Marc Schmidheiny, Dario Suter and Charlie Woebcken.
The deal was negotiated by Natja Noviani Rosner from LevelK and James Emanuel Shapiro of Drafthouse films.
