A spotlight on Mexican film figures among the highlights at the 12th Producers Network, one of Cannes Market’s most popular initiatives, attracting some 500 registered producer participants.
Running May 14-20, the Producers Network organizes seven breakfast meets, focusing on different international countries each day, introducing producers from those territories to invited industry figure guests and participants.
The spotlight on Mexican producers, presented by Mexico’s Imcine film agency, takes place Sunday, May 17. Further themed breakfast events focus on producers from South Africa, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Canada, South Korea and Poland.
Industry players that will host and moderate roundtables during this year’s Producers Network include IM Global’s David Jordan, Paul Federbush of the Sundance Institute, XYZ Films’ Todd Brown, White Horse Pictures’ Nigel Sinclair and Mike Goodridge of Protagonist Pictures.
A number of special sessions presented within the framework of Producers Network includes a focus on financing, as well as a talent-pitching session for projects from China, scheduled for May 18.
Casting the spotlight on finance, meanwhile, the Producers Network has scheduled for May 16 a Meet the Financiers session, where producers can connect with around 20 funds from all over the world.
The second edition of Shoot the Book!, a session devoted to the pitching of literary works with potential film adaptation, takes place May 19.
“The Producers Network offers an incredibly busy program that brings together new producers and old-timers, in an informal and formative setting,” said Jerome Paillard, exec director of the Cannes Market.
