In the Oscar race for best picture, “The Martian” has taken off like a rocket among the predictions by media experts at Gold Derby. One month ago, it wasn’t even in the top 10, but now it’s tied for second place with “Joy,” both sharing 17 to 2 odds. “Spotlight” remains out front and has picked up support as it debuts in theaters. Among 22 experts, 11 pick it to win, up from 8 one week ago. Meantime, “Steve Jobs” drops from third place to fifth.
